Chapter 61

This is about Jesus' appearance in the world.  Jesus quotes this passage to John's disciples when they come and ask him who he is.  The ultimate preacher is how MSB puts it.  This will be the beginning of the fulfillment of the previous passage.  But since Jesus time, we have not yet seen the kind of prominence, salvation, and turning to the Lord by the Jews that 60 talks about.

1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; [Isa 61:1-2 ESV]. 

But when Jesus quoted it, he left out the part about liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison.  Jesus words to John the Baptist are found in Matt. 11:4-6 and Luke 7:20-23.  The harmony gives all the Isaiah passages where these items are found.  I do note that it may be that the freeing of captives and opening of prisons may be a prophecy that applies not to the church age but to the second advent.  Perhaps it is about all the captives the MoL has imprisoned for their faith being released when Jesus appears.  These would be post-rapture converts.

About vs 4, we seem to go into the future, beyond Jesus earthly ministry, to things that are yet future even today.

This verse:

7 Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy. [Isa 61:7 ESV]  Following double punishment, Israel will receive a double portion...Had not seen this one before either.
